Car and household insurance

Car and household insurance, compared.

One broker for your car, bakkie, home and contents. We compare the market, set the right sums insured and handle the claim when it counts.

Car parked on an open desert road

Car and household insurance protect the things you rely on every day. We compare cover across several insurers so you get the right policy at a fair premium, and Inge handles your short-term cover and claims personally.

Car insurance

  • Comprehensive covers accident damage, theft, hijacking, fire and damage to other people's property.
  • Third party, fire and theft covers your liability to others, plus theft and fire of your own vehicle.
  • Third party only covers damage you cause to other people's vehicles and property.

We check the details that change a claim: whether the car is insured at retail or market value, the excess you can afford, tracking requirements and who the regular driver is.

Bakkie insurance

Bakkies are insured like cars, but how you use them matters. If the bakkie is used for business, carries goods or tows a trailer, the policy must say so, or a claim could be rejected. We make sure the use, accessories such as canopies and tow bars, and any load cover are all correctly declared.

Household contents and buildings

Household contents insurance covers your furniture, appliances, electronics and personal belongings against theft, fire and damage. Buildings insurance covers the structure of the home and is required by your bank if you have a bond. If you live in a complex, the body corporate usually insures the building, so you only need contents cover.

Valuables you carry with you, such as phones, laptops and jewellery, need all-risk cover to be protected away from home.

Combining car and household cover

Putting your vehicles and home on one policy is usually simpler to manage and can reduce your premium. It also means one renewal date and one person to call when something goes wrong.

Avoiding under-insurance

If your sum insured is lower than the real replacement value, the insurer can reduce your claim in proportion. We review your values every year so your cover keeps up with what you own. Read more in our short-term insurance guide.

Frequently asked questions.

Is bakkie insurance different from car insurance?

The cover is similar, but you must declare whether the bakkie is used for business, carries goods or tows, and any accessories. Incorrect use can lead to a rejected claim.

What is the difference between comprehensive and third party car insurance?

Comprehensive covers damage to your own vehicle as well as others. Third party only covers damage you cause to other people's vehicles and property.

Can I put my car and household insurance on one policy?

Yes. A combined policy is easier to manage and is often cheaper than separate policies.
